Abstract

Gelam currently widely used as auxiliary materials in the construction of buildings such as buildings, roads or plaster because of its strength and durability. The objective of this research is to observe the characteristics and the utilization of gelam in building construction. Measurements of MOE gelam refers to DIN standard, observation of anatomical structures with SEM while the use of gelam in the field is done by documenting construction activities and interviews with constractors. The results showed that MOE was steam after being used as a steger / scalffolding for up to 7 months and waterbreaker soaked in mud for 2 months, did not decrease. The constractor said that gelam used as a steger / scalffolding can be recycled and can be used up to 2 to 3 times.
